Day at the beach

This weather is a mixed blessing – it’s too hot to be outdoors and rain would be nice for my vegetables, but the heat of the sun feels amazing sitting in the shade with a cool breeze. I don’t know about you but in truth, the hot sun is much preferred over the cold of winter (because Winter has come) or a blasé drizzly day.

Steve and I enjoyed our evenings indoors this week watching the back catalogue of our favourite travel guide: Rick Steves from PBS. It was the highlights of Spain and tonight he sampled smoked ham, tapas and saw dancing horses. We decided to join on his adventure with a spicy Cajun Shrimp dish to help sweat out this heat, paired with a cooling Pinot Grigio from Niagara.  We added sliced sausage from the picnic to give more texture to the dish (and finish up left overs). If you prefer to use only the stove top and not the oven, I highly recommend classic Spanish paella.

Do you have a favourite spicy dish? Hit reply or leave a comment with your recommended way to enjoy this heat.

p.s. the kitchen bundle giveaway with the highly rated Amazon favourites: Instant Pot and Cuisinart Smart Stick ends this Friday. Don’t miss out on your chance to win »

The best part is that instead of just getting one entry and crossing your fingers that you win, you actually have the opportunity to get HUNDREDS of entries and majorly increase your odds.

Here’s how it works: after entering the giveaway, you’ll get a special URL with your unique tracking link. Share that link with your friends, family, social media followers, Facebook friends, and email list.
