Distance Makes the Heart Grow Hungry
George Burns is quoted as saying “Happiness is having a large, loving, caring, close-knit family in another city.”
Steve and I like our siblings. I believe distance makes the heart grow fonder but living apart means more driving and long-distance phone bills. It also means we get to snuggle their babies less often.
This past weekend, we all went on a road trip to visit the Gordon clan. It was a potluck with an array of appetizers, dinner and lots of desserts. A make-shift bar in the laundry room was where the men discussed life before dinner was served. Suffice to say, many men in the laundry room inspired commentary.
I love potlucks. So many new flavours to try and ideas to inspire your cooking. I brought an artichoke dip (accompanied by crisps and snap peas, shown in the photo) and a salad. It is the best salad to bring to large events: full of texture and makes approximately 8 cups. Everyone asked for the recipes:
