Immune Building Smoothie
I went to California for a conference last fall, I realized how much I missed fresh shakes. I had one everyday at lunch made with all kinds of different ingredients, and each chain offering different “boosters” to add. Since the berries are coming to the end of their growing season, I thought it best to share asap!
Here’s a classic base:
- 1/3 c protein powder (I use 95% unflavoured whey)
- 1/2 c yogurt or milk
- ¼ banana
- 1 tsp flax seed oil
- natural flavouring (see below)
- handful of ice cubes
Put everything in a blender until smooth. Just make sure the powder is layered between liquid so it doesn’t just clog on the surface or at the bottom.
Ideas for flavourings:
- ½ c fruit: mango cubes, strawberries or raspberries
- 3 Tbs cocoa powder
- substitute ¼ c yogurt with orange sherbert or frozen yogurt
- ½ c cranberry juice instead of milk
