GG’s pecan pie
My parents had me over for an interesting dinner – schnitzel with chocolate pasta covered in Alfredo sauce. It had a strong smell but no distinct taste.
This is my Great-Grandmother’s recipe for pecan pie. Mom makes it a lot of guests and it ALWAYS turns out perfectly:
- 3 eggs
- 2/3 c sugar
- 1c dark corn syrup
- 1/3 c margarine, melted
- 1 c pecan halves
- 9” unbaked pastry shell
- Pre-bake pastry shell at 400F for 5 minutes. Set oven to 350F.
- Beat eggs with sugar, dash of salt, corn syrup and butter. Add pecans.
- Pour into shell and bake for 50 minutes.
Serves 6 (unless you aren’t willing to share with your children and then you can cut it into 4 pieces when you have guests. Yes she really did that once. So mean!)
