Heading up to Nunavut
So I’m leaving for Coral Harbour, Nunavut today to visit my BFF Allie. I have to fly through Winnipeg (with an overnight) in each direction. Allison’s cousin, Elizabeth, is kindly putting me up for those nights, which is super kind of her considering she doesn’t know who I am! I’ll be gone for a week. Here’s the weather forcast:
Tuesday A mix of sun and cloud. Low 9. High 16.
Wednesday Sunny. Low 9. High 18.
Thursday Sunny. Low 11. High 22.
Friday A mix of sun and cloud. Low 7. High 17.
Saturday A mix of sun and cloud. Low 8. High 17
No word yet on Sunday and Monday but here’s the weather site for Coral Harbour »
I have no expectations, but I will be disconnected from work the whole time (which I am looking forward to, seriously!). I’ve packed some wool and needles to make a funky 1940’s sweater, and two books because Allie will be working a few days. Still, she will have Friday – Sunday off!!! She says I basically only need to worry about a few t-shirts, a sweatshirt or 2, socks and undies and jeans and an eye mask because they have only 1-2 hours of night. Oh, and apparently they’ve reach a high of 19 °C. Woohoo! She got a brand new pillow for me but hasn’t figured out how to inflate it yet (she plans to recruit a few local kids and pay them 1$ a minute until they pass out…hAHAHHA)
She asked me to bring a few things:
As for stuff to bring up, I really would like one of those little terracotta brown sugar softeners. From the Bulk Barn, I was wondering if you could pick up about 1kg dried cranberries, 500g of raw almonds, 500g of raw cashews, 500g hazelnuts, 500g hulled pistachios, 750g unsweetened coconut (preferable the flakes, not the shredded), 2kg quinoa (preferably organic) 2kg of whole oats (not the quick-cooking, again preferably organic) and 1kg of the dark cocoa.
do you have a Joe Fresh nearby? because if so, I’m wondering if you could maybe pick me up a pair of their cheapie jeans in a size 10. Bootcut or straight, doesn’t matter. If you won’t have time for that no worries … Other than that, I’ll be hoping you could bring the acoustic guitar and the clothes from my mum.
Do you have a Best Buy near you? Because, I also thought that maaaaybe you could pick something up for me there … I really want an Bose Ipod dock.
Then she called to ask me to bring a Lagostina frying pan! I started having an anxiety attack thinking about how much it was all going to be. We’ve pared it down to one large suitcase, a carry on for my stuff and her guitar but there will still probably be an overage weight charge because I can’t lift the suitcase by myself. HAHAHAHAH!
The last thing is to burn some music for her and get myself and eye mask, and then I’m done packing. YEAH! I’ll be posting photos on Facebook and will leave you with some fun recipes in my absence. Hope you enjoy!
