Trius
While we were at Barb’s cottage to go over the Soroptimist by-laws, we were fortunate that Sandy’s monthly shipment Hillebrand had just arrived and this month, both bottles were Trius:)
The first was the 2007 red, a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The tasting notes say that “cocoa, spice, oak, black currant and blueberry flavours evolve on the palate.” A good sipping wine, but I don’t think we found all those tastes within it! However, the colour was dark red, especially compared to the Cabernet Franc (2008), which was more claret.
I have never been a fan of the Hillebrand Cab-Franc; it feels like it takes away the moisture on my tongue. Apparently that’s the tannins, but I’ve never had that experience with any other wine! The notes for this one are more realizable, especially given the bright colour: “a medium-bodied wine with moderate acidity, and soft tannins. Flavours of currants, juicy black and red berries and cloves fill the mouth while tart juicy berries linger through on the finish.”
