Do-Overs and Make-Overs

Homemade Applesauce

I’ve done the math and there are only 7-weeks left until 2016. It seems like such a long way away, and yet I know the weeks will go by quickly with shopping, baking and holiday parties.

Sadly, the leaves have expended their beauty and are ready for raking but it still feels like summer here in Canada. There has been a bit of rain this past week but the temperatures are amazingly warm. It’s glorious and yet a little unnerving. People should be bundled in hats and scarves but my jacket is still in the closet.

All the apples from my neighbour’s tree are safely sealed in jars. They are a heritage apple that are pure white on the inside, but the dark red skin dyes the sauce a beautiful pink colour. A perfect level of natural sweetness for cakes and muffins, like this Gingerbread Cake »

All this thinking about the holidays lead me to new year’s resolutions. I have decided that 2016 will be a year of do-overs and make-overs. I’m starting with refreshing the look of this site. I look forward to showing you the reveal when it’s up and ready!  I’ll also be revisiting some of my favourite recipes from the past for a do-over as part of this make-over 😀

Cheers,
Brooke
