Restorative Yoga
I tried my first Restorative Yoga class at Andrea Soos studio in Westdale. Amazing! I felt like I’d had a massage and was pain free for three days. There is a studio in Waterdown I tried as well – great deal. $20 for a one week pass to any/all classes. I had hoped Steve would join me but no go. However, there were men in the classes I attended.
They have an intro/beginner class on Tuesday nights. It was my favourite because she teaching using the principles of anatomy. The Wednesday night class is more about gentle stretching. Both were a challenge to my flexibility (first and foremost) but also my strength and balance. The only class that wasn’t a good fit for me was the cardio class. It’s 30 minutes of interval callisthenics followed by another 30 minutes of yoga , ending in corpse pose. It was too much for me in pace and risk to my back. I hurt for 4 days after but even though it was mostly squats and lunges, my knee is okay 🙂
I have finally let go of my remembrances of past classes and realize that yoga will be a real challenge for me but the calming benefits and poses for stretching will be something I can bring in to my every day.
