Holiday Baking Exchange: Mock Turtles

As my friend so wonderfully put it, the Christmas lights are up, stores are playing carols, that’s right it’s almost time for… [her] Annual Christmas Cookie Exchange!

My sister went to one last weekend (that I wasn’t able make it to) where everyone chipped in a little and our Pampered Chef did all the baking. Everyone got to try her gadgets and take home some cookies – brilliant idea! If that mango salsa was there as a snack it would be absolutely perfect 🙂 I am really hoping to go next year.

I’m off to my friend’s place Saturday and really excited – she hinted rather blatantly that there may be chocolate covered strawberries. I’m making mock turtles. The ingredients are easily scalable to the quantity you need but they are super complicated to make 😉

I have one more mid-December at work. If anyone has any ideas of easy but impressive, please let me know! (Laurie, Mairghread and Kerry … this plea is mostly to you, lol!)

Ingredients

  • small pretzels
  • chocolate covered caramel candies (like Rolo’s)
  • pecan halves

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C).
  2. Arrange the pretzels in a single layer on a cookie sheet lined with parchment or a silicon mat.
  3. Place one chocolate covered caramel candy on each pretzel.
  4. Bake for 4 minutes.
  5. While the candy is warm, press a pecan half onto each candy covered pretzel.
  6. Cool completely before storing in an airtight container.
