Day of Joy
What a great day yesterday was! Although I had a night jaunt to take Steve to his carpool for 4:30am – it’s his first time going to the US and I couldn’t be more excited for him. I am hoping he’ll catch the US prices shopping bug so we can go together – I fell right back to sleep and got 11 hours all in. Much needed! After a morning of mucking in the garden, doing my 21st workout in 7 weeks (averaging 3 per week, as promised) and finishing left overs for lunch, Gillian came over for a visit.
We had the very best afternoon of baking where we each made a back of cocoa-balls: hers with coconut and cranberry; mine with sesame seeds and chopped dates. While they were chilling in the freezer, she introduced me to the trails at the local park. I have been here three years, driven by many a time and had no idea such excellent hiking trails were so close. I thought it was just baseball and soccer fields. Now I can’t wait to take Steve! Turns out it’s just over 2mi round trip (although we really felt it was longer) on the paved trail and there are tonnes of side shouts to explore.
We came back to have an amazing tea she had picked up at the Bulk Barn: pomegranate, lavender and white tea. YUM! Then she stayed for different left overs (ground turkey with black bean chili in a burrito with plain yogurt, chopped veggies and salsa), we played on SparkPeople and looked at photographs she’d taken until late. I couldn’t believe how quickly time flew by. I think the lovely sunshine and warm weather, plus good company, had a hand in that.
The evening topped off with the introduction of our friend Kerry’s newest niece. It was truly a day of joy!
