I was delighted to read this article over the weekend. A local woman is teaching people how to cook on a budget and one of the churches stepped up to give her the space and even donate all the food:

A community kitchen has sprouted in Waterdown and things are heating up as participants prepare to whip up another delicious meal – on a dime – this weekend.

The basic cooking classes teach food lovers with no culinary experience how to create a savoury meal for four for about $10. Participants are also educated on the proper use of kitchen appliances and utensils, including how to safely use a knife without losing a finger.

It really warmed my heart to read this story. It’s my recommended reading for today »
