Rib Fest
Waterdown had its first Oh Canada Rib Fest, hosted by the The Rotary Clubs of FlamboroughAM & Waterdown. The celebrations begin July 1 with an official Citizenship Court to swear in new Canadians. Their festivities promised:
- Tantalizing ribs and other foods prepared by professional Ribbers
- Other food vendors selling Blooming Onions, Pitas, Bacon on an Bun, ever faithful hot dog, hamburger and french fries! Don’t forget the Ice Cream and Candy Vendors!
- A licensed family festival, featuring the communities own Nickle Brook family of beers in tents and gardens throughout the grounds.
- A selection of professional entertainers including Freedom Train, 509 Band and others will be complemented by local talent from the community. CHML, Y108 and Vinyl will be broadcasting live.
- A children’s carnival area area, with rides, games, food and refreshments.
- No Pets. No Coolers. Back packs will be checked upon entry.
There were six ribbers listed on the site, at last count, but not all the sam ones they said on the site. Mom and Dad joined us, and Peter came for Car Show beforehand. We each tried ones from a different vendor and then shared:
- Silver Bullet (ribs & pulled pork combo for $15). Portion was okay but too much sauce
- Hogs Gone Wild (ribs and Q chicken, plus three sides $18). Chicken was dry but the corn bread was incredible. We almost fought over the last bite.
- Camp 31 (chicken and pulled pork for $15). Okay but dry and small portions.
- Boss Hog (ribs & pulled pork combo for $15). We voted this one the best
