A great day
Yesterday was just delightful! Why? To start, I took the day off and didn’t check email at work. The night before I got back into the routine of my workouts with my personal fitness trainer Kim (whom I adore. She gave me her foam roller as a birthday gift) and then went tomato picking after dinner. In the morning I shopped at the market for fresh berries and vegetables, made a batch of chill sauce, canned 6 quarts of tomato juice and 4 quarts of crushed tomatoes, and I experimented with a ground-cherry jam using apple as the base and brown sugar as the sweetener. I even moved some of the mulch off the driveway and pulled up two wheelbarrows full of thistles from the lawn/flower beds (finally!). I labelled my jars with cute little cutouts from craft-paper and coloured pencils and then put them away (the jars had taken over the dinning room table). To boot, I got some of those low-profile Ball jars on sale at Fortino’s in Burlington. I ended off the day starting a roast in the crockpot for the family BBQ we’re hosting this afternoon.
As if all that wasn’t enough, what really made it great was getting legitimately carded at the Beer Store. Yes, that’s right! She was embarrassed and apologized when I handed her my ID. I felt well rested and vibrant all day so it made it all the more wonderful. Yesterday deserved a hooray!
