Red and White and Local
I subscribe to the Culinarium newsletter. This month she shared some awesome red and white themed recipes. The look delicious! Can’t wait to try them.
There was also an article about Local Food Plus (LFP), a non-profit organization that links regional food economies by certifying farmers and processors for local sustainable food production and helping them connect with buyers of all types and sizes. LFP Certified Local Sustainable farmers and processors:
- reduce or eliminate pesticide use,
- treat their animals well and protect wildlife habitat,
- conserve soil and water, and reduce energy use,
- provide safe and fair working conditions,
- and sell locally wherever possible.
Their problem statement is: every time we buy food we’re voting for the kind of food that we want. When we spend money, we’re telling the people who feed us that we want more of what they’ve got to offer. Find out more on Facebook »
