We went to Frootogo for apples ($1/lb) and got 25/lb each (for $23, they deduct a bit for the basket). We pulled a little wagon out into the orchard and within 15 min had filled a basket each. We were really shocked by how many were on the ground, really. The farmer said people toss them if they don’t like the shape, etc but the wind also knocks down a lot.
It went much faster than the raspberries, which was a bit disappointing because we were both looking forward to the chat … so we hung out by the cars afterwards instead.
FYI for next year, Cortlands are 89c/lb at the Dutch Mill, pre-picked.
